Sunset Park Solar — UPROSE Brooklyn Army Terminal

Working Power and UPROSE, along with Sunlight General Capital are co-developing the 725kW Sunset Park Solar project at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The project will establish a community-owned and operated solar grid that creates significant environmental benefits, employment opportunities, and economic benefits. The 45,000 square foot installation will provide access to solar power generation for local households. The project cost $2.6 million to develop and will provide $2.2 million in community benefits over 25 years.

Beyond providing bill savings to 200 households, the revenue generated by the community solar array will be directed into a community wealth fund that allows Sunset Park residents to allocate resources to projects based on their priorities, such as funding additional solar initiatives.
