We go beyond solar by supporting a wide range of clean energy projects like microgrids, storage, heat pumps, and more. For example, Urban Ingenuity (an affiliate of Working Power) has worked with partners in Washington, D.C. to combine 1.7 MW of community solar, a 4.5 MW combined heating, cooling, and power generation system, 1.3 MW of battery storage, and advanced microgrid controls. The system is designed to meet most of the site’s electricity needs through on-site production and allow the site to remain operational in ‘island mode’ during grid outages.
A clean energy microgrid combines renewable energy sources and on-site storage to create a backup or alternative to the main electrical grid. Microgrids connect to the main grid but can also draw power from on-site generation and storage instead, even if the main grid suffers a power outage. This allows for greater independence and less disruption in a world facing the possibility of increased power shortages and outages due to extreme weather.
As clean energy consultants, we are positioned to take your project from scoping through design to implementation. We write plans and raise funds, model financial results, devise budgets, structure energy assets, build staff capacity, design governance models, engage stakeholders, prepare RFPs and select contractors, supervise their work, and document the results and process. We’re your advisor at every step in the process: we find solutions, conquer barriers, and guide successful climate justice projects from start to finish.
